OUR STORY

Jost + Architects (formerly Jost Architects Ltd.) was established in 1977 by Harry Jost in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. After several years working abroad, Harry returned to his home province to embrace a quieter, rural lifestyle and to create an architectural practice that reflected his commitment to thoughtful design and community connection. Since then, the firm has played a meaningful role in shaping the built environment of Nova Scotia and beyond.

In 2016, Heather Sprague joined the firm, bringing with her a strong design background and nearly a decade of architectural experience from her home province of New Brunswick. After receiving her certification in 2010, Heather developed a deep understanding of how architecture can support both function and identity in the places people live and work. Her arrival marked a new chapter for the practice, and in 2019 she took on the role of principal, continuing the firm’s legacy with fresh leadership and the same core values. Harry continues to contribute as a respected senior member of the team, offering his knowledge and insight to projects and mentoring younger staff.

Today, Jost + Architects is powered by a small but dedicated team of professionals including an architectural designer, three technicians, and an administrative assistant. Many members of the team were born and raised in the Maritimes, giving them a deep appreciation for the region’s natural beauty, culture, and way of life. This understanding informs our approach to every project, allowing us to design with sensitivity to both place and people.

We are proud of our roots, our evolution, and the strong relationships we’ve built with clients and communities over the decades. Let us assist you in "Putting The Pieces Together."
